Student attendance is directly tied to student success in the classroom. Please make sure your child is attending school on a regular basis.
If your child is absent, please call Alicia Schmitt, the Fannin attendance clerk, at 972-343-4702, to let the school know why your child is not present. Also, you must send a note with your child when he or she returns after an absence, explaining the nature of the absence, and it must be dated and signed by you. Your child's full name and school ID # must also be included in the note. Any absence without a parent note is considered unexcused.
Warning: Three (3) unexcused absences and multiple tardies will result in a letter from the GPISD Attendance Office stating that your child is not within TEA attendance guidelines. This letter is the first step of many actions that can result from excessive absences, including home visits from the Truancy officer, leading up to citations and court appearances.
