My name is Kathy Hasty, I was born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas (and still live here!). I attended Crockett Elementary, Lee Junior High and graduated from Grand Prairie High School. I attended the University of Texas in Arlington where I earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education and English for grades K-12. I have had extensive professional development in curriculum analysis and lesson design coaching. I have been in education for 30 years and have taught Pre-K, 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Currently, I am the Literacy Strategist for both Whitt and Moseley Elementary Schools.
I am married to Michael Hasty (also a GP native), and we have a son, Chad, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer. My favorite hobby is cooking, I love to watch those shows on the Food Network and see if I can duplicate the recipes! I also enjoy traveling, running and, of course, READING!!
My philosophy: I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as a educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, promotes positive learning, sparks enthusiasm for learning, invites a sharing of ideas and provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
