de Zavala Headlines

The students at Zavala helped their teachers create flamingo costumes. They entered the "Best Dressed Flamingo" contest. All week long, students in pre-k -5th grade studied and learned about flamingos. During lunch and in the mornings, the Smiths asked "flamingo questions". Students earned Flamingo Dollars with correct responses. They were allowed to give the dollars to the teacher/ staff member of their choice. Teachers could purchase a jeans pass, have a sandwich on the Smiths or have the Smiths teach their class for a day. The theme for the week was TEACHING IN PARADISE.

Recycling Champs
Mrs. Oliver's morning pre-kindergarten students brought more water bottles than any other class for our recycling competition; a total of 1,914.

Please bag your grass clippings and leaves for our garden. Drop bagged items off on the east side of our school building in the garden area.

New School Building
The new Lorenzo De Zavala Environmental Science Academy building is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.
